God the Father is True and Living. He is the maker of Heaven and Earth. He is one, yet triune in nature and exists in three persons – as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He is Sovereign and Omnipotent in and above all things. He is also Omnipresent. He is the redeemer of all mankind. The very nature and being of God is Love. (Gen. 1-3; Matt. 6:9; John 14-16; Rom. 8:14,15; 1 Cor. 8:6, 1 Cor. 15:24).
Jesus Christ is God’s Son. He was born of the Virgin Mary and conceived of the Holy Spirit. He is the One and True Messiah (Christ) that the Scriptures speak of. In accordance with Scripture, while living here on the earth as a man, He led a sinless life and gave Himself as a living sacrifice by death on the Cross. He was the only acceptable substitute for sin. Three days after His death, He rose bodily from the grave. Through His death and resurrection, He made atonement for the sins of all mankind and made eternal life in heaven possible for those who become born-again believers. After His resurrection, He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding and reigning as our risen Lord. (John 1:1, 2, 14, 18; John 1:34-35; Rom. 3:24-26, Rom. 8:34; Col. 2:9; Phil. 2; Heb. 1).
The Person of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin. He was sent by the Father to glorify Jesus Christ. He draws believers into a relationship with Jesus Christ. He enlightens, teaches, guides, and empowers the born-again believer. He gives gifts to individuals in the Body of Christ and aids in the cultivation of the fruits of the Spirit. (John 3:3-8; 14:16-17; 16:7-11; 1 Cor. 12; 7-11; Eph. 4:30; 5:18).
The Bible is the Word of God. It is God-breathed and written by men who were led and inspired by God. In its original form, the Bible is inerrant, without error or contradiction. It is the Christian’s guidebook. (John 5:39; Luke 24:27; Rom. 15:4; 2 Peter 1:3, 21; 2 Tim. 3:16-17).
Man is God’s Creation. He was made from the “dust of the earth” for the Father’s glory. He was made to know God and to fellowship with God intimately through Jesus Christ. Mankind was created in God’s image and in God’s likeness.(Gen. 1:26-28, John 3:3; Rom. 3:10, 23; Eph. 1).
Sin and Evil. Sin and evil entered the world when Adam, the first man, disobeyed God’s command. This disobedience separated man from God resulting in spiritual death and placed mankind out of right relationship with God. (Gen. 3; Rom. 5).
Salvation is God’s Gift to Man. Although man is born in the likeness and image of God, because of the first man’s sin, all mankind enters the word in a sinful state spiritually and is in need of a right relationship with his/her Creator. Through repentance of one’s sins, accepting Christ into his/her heart, one can be brought back into proper relationship with God or be saved. Salvation from sin is a gift of God’s grace and cannot be obtained through works. It is freely given to those who put their faith in the finished work of Christ – His death, buriel and resurrection. All who confess Jesus as Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead will be saved. Salvation is by faith alone through grace. (John 1:12-13, Acts 16:30-33; Eph. 1:7, Eph. 2; 8-9; Rom. 1-8, 10:9; Titus 3:5).
