Are you looking for a sense of purpose for your life? Have you ever had the thought “there has to be more to life than this?” Is your heart empty and is your soul unsatisfied?
Purpose and contentment can only be found in a personal relationship with God. He desires that you get to know Him personally. He already knows you and loves you in spite of everything He knows about you. Only the creator of a being knows the intention and purpose for which it was created. God created you and has a plan for your life. But your sins have separated you from your Creator God, and has caused you to be out of “right relationship” with Him. Sin is anything that you say, do or think that doesn’t please God. How can you know Him in a personal way and become rightly related with God again?
Recognize and acknowledge that you are a sinner, and you have a need for a Savior. Romans 3:23 says that we all have sinned and fallen short of God’s standard of living.
Accept and believe that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is the way that we are made right with Him. Romans 3:21-22 says that “But God has a way to make people right with Him . . . . God makes people right with Himself through their faith in Jesus Christ.” Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages [payment] for sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Because God wanted to be back in relationship with us and offer us eternal life with Him (instead of eternal death), He sent His Son Jesus to die a physical death on a cross, shed His blood, was buried, and was resurrected after three days. Therefore Christ paid the debt for our sin. “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
Confess your sin to God. To confess means to agree with God about your sin and has separated you from Him. Choose to turn away or “repent” of your sins. You are choosing to step away from your sinful life in order to follow God and have the fulfilling life He intended for you. Ask God to forgive you for your sin. To forgive means to pardon. But you can’t earn forgiveness by being good enough or by doing good things. It is a gift. Romans 10:10 tells us that “We believe with our hearts, and so we are made right with God. And we use our mouths to say that we believe, and so we are saved.” In other words, we must believe in our hearts that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that He arose from the grave. When we confess this in our hearts then we are saved. To be saved means to be born again or become a Christian or be delivered from your sins and eternal death.
God bless you. This is the best decision that you have ever made!
